This should've been done years ago, but things came up. Namely Persona 3 Portable.
Spoilers ahoy!
Title: B型H系, B Gata H Kei, B Type H Group
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Animation Studio: HAL Film maker
Episodes: 12
Well, this was probably one of my most favourite series from last season. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and one of the few series that I didn't skip through because I got bored of it. It could easily be one of the best series of the season, though it'd have some tough competition.
The premise of the series was a bit off putting in the beginning. 100 sex partners? It sounded interesting, though I wasn't sure how it'd turn out. Those who stuck with it ended up the winners, as this one was really entertaining.
The beginning was a bit "will she get the guy", but then (quite early in the series) it becomes more of a "how far will they get". Yamada's a tsundere...of sorts. Kosuda's...well plain. He's shy, though he does become more aggressive as the series goes on. Utumin hates how Kosuda looks though, and didn't watch the series solely because of him.
Yamada, in all her perverse glory, still has her adorable moments. Behind that 18+ façade, lies an innocent, high school girl in love. Her 'normal' reactions are really cute and are always funny.
Miyano was ridiculously adorable too. She pretty much served as both Yamada's rival in love and Yamada's foil. By foil I mean a contrasting character, and not aluminum foil. At times it would seem as if she was better suited for Kosuda, but you'd soon realize that it might not work out. Both of them are shy and passive. Yamada's aggressiveness is a nice match for his passiveness.
Then there's Kyouka. She's essentially Yamada's mutal rival in more ways than one. It began with a petty competition over who's better. But when Kosuda gets thrown in, suddenly a new battle begins. And then the object of Kyouka's affection shows up and goes after Yamada, H Wars III begins, and never really ends.
The side characters are great too. Takeshita (F-keshita), Misato, Kosuda's friends, et. al. all have their moments. Misato (middle) in particular has many hilarious moments throughout the 12 episodes. Sometimes you wonder whether she's worse off than Yamada because of the things she pulls. If you're wondering what the heck just happened in the that image, here's the answer.
Ruining a wonderful memory. Misato, you really don't know how to read the atmosphere, do you?
Image for those wondering how far they actually got. I lied. They got close to a homerun, but ended up striking out. Said scene ended with a mechanical malfunction and Kosuda fracturing his shin. Also this is pretty much episode 12 in a nutshell.
What's this you ask? Well, Kosuda popped a bwner talking to a cute nurse, and Yamada decided to put Little Kosuda back in place.
Jealous Yamada is jealous. Kosuda's currently suffering from karate chopped adult male part.
You could call this round two. By this time, Kosuda's like a primed grenade. Ready to blow!
And there he blows. The hunter becomes the hunted in this game of Cat and Mouse. He doesn't get far though. Got pretty close to another hospital stay though.
The last episode was really quite a treat. A nice end to the series and all of Yamada's antics. They're pretty much been a couple for at least 3/4 of the series, so an ending like this was fitting. Time really did blaze by in the series though. I think we passed Christmas and Valentines and least twice.
All in all, I think everyone should give this one a shot. Romance wise, I think this one ranks among the top series for the Spring. I didn't finish Hakuoki, so I can't say anything about that, but I'd say that it's on par with Maid-sama!, though it hasn't finished yet. The seiyuu cast for this series is great too. Can you look at Tamura Yukari the same way after this?
On another note, this is probably the first time I've review a whole series. Not sure how to do one without either droning on and on, or doing an episode by episode review. Unless of course you'd like me to do that. If you have any suggestions on what I could better (aside from being a better person, dying, killing myself and the like), drop a comment or find me in some other way. I won't answer the door if I don't you know.
