A wee bit late, yes. But better later than never. Life hasn't been giving me a break, so I've been neglecting the blog a bit. Hopefully I'll have some time once my last exam and composition recital is done with to get blogging again.
Title: 妖狐X僕SS, Inu X Boku SS, Inu X Boku Secret Service, Youko X Boku SS
Author: Fujiwara Cocoa
Genre: Shounen, Comedy, Romance, Supernatural
Serialized in: Square Enix GanGan Joker
Total Volume Count: 4 (ongoing)
Series Summary from MangaUpdates:
The Shirakiin house's daughter, Shirakiin Riricho, who has a complex about being unable to live independently and unprotected, feels the need to move out and live on her own under the condition of residing in the mansion named "Ayakashi Kan." In this mansion, only those who have cleared a very strict examination could reside in it, and for each resident, they are accompanied with one agent of the Secret Service (S.S.). Although Riricho has rejected the company of the S.S., while residing in the mansion she finds out that the agent dedicated to protecting her is actually the Fox Spirit whom she previously rescued.
Kenn's Comment: People seem to love to hate this series, and other works of Fujiwara Cocoa's. Maybe it's because they see the shounen tag and automatically expect to see half naked chicks beating the living daylights out of hilarious drawn baddies while exposing as much t&a as possible? Sorry, this ain't by Oh Great!. It's essentially a shounen series that looks, and plays out like a shoujo series. I don't know why I do it, but I occasionally venture onto the MangaFox forums to take a looksie at who's saying what and what on the forums. People are requesting that it be labeled as a shoujo. If it's serialized in a shounen magazine, I think that it's more than enough to label it as a shounen.
Ranting aside, the story carries Fujiwara's trademark adorable character designs along with her story style. It's dialogue heavy (imo), and has occasionaly flits with action scenes, but otherwise sticks to it's rom-com roots. The characters are hard to dislike, and all have their own sets of quirks and traits that make them unique.
Anywho, at 4 volumes, it's going fairly strong, since most series that aren't liked usually are axed fairly early on. Dear had 12 and ran in GanGan Wing, another Square Enix shounen magazine, so it's not like she doesn't have a fan base.
