This one's a really bouncy, fun and cheerful song.

Title: Clap Hip Cherry
Producer: Junky
PV: たま
Vocaloid: GUMI (Power)

Kenn's Comment: Happy and bouncy perfectly describe this one. The detached guitar chords, and the...I'm not actually sure what it's called, but the synth'd melody are what really give it that feel. The vocal line follows suit. The line kind of rolls along, bouncing every now and then. Listen to it, and you'll see why I say that.

Also, I'm pretty sure this is another Red Riding Hood themed song.

Don't mind the title - the song more than makes up for it.

Title: Masked bitcH
Lyrics: Q*Left
Music: ギガP
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: If this doesn't remind you of K-Pop, I don't know what will. It sounds kind of like something an idol group would do! GUMI sounds really good in this. Like really good. The effects on her voice as well as all the background masks any imperfections. Unsurprisingly, heavy breathing using a vocaloid still sounds a bit funny.

Anywho, I chanced upon this song through two very, very awesome covers of the song.

The first, 96猫. Her cover  is quite similar to GUMI's version. A little bit lower in voice, but all in all, a very sturdy performance. The song itself suits Kuro's voice.

And here's the other one by おつも. Holy mother of God. He's great. Like awesome. He makes the song sound like it was an idol group song. If he had maybe one or two other guys with him (if they all sounded like おつも, we might have a dangerous song), then I think we'd actually have an idol group.

Anywho, enjoy the song and the two covers! I'll see you all back here for tomorrow's manga of the week.

This week, some lovely GUMI!

Title: 彼の彼女, Kare no Kanojo, His Girlfriend
Producer: わるりり
Lyrics: まじゃ
PV: まきの　せな
Vocaloid: GUMI (Whisper)

Kenn's Comment: Where do they get video for stuff like this? Is it like B-roll stuff? Though I do feel like I've seen some of them before.

Anywho, this song is great. GUMI Whisper fits this song like a glove. It's got the right touch of a soft voice and a good register. Another thing I really like about this is how clearly the lyrics come through. I talk about this often and it's that the voice is covered up by the instrumentals. In this one, GUMI's clear as a bell. It's a lovely song too, so you better enjoy it!

I've been seeing a lot of GUMI lately...

Title: しゅくふくのうた, Shukufuku no Uta, Song of Blessing
Producer: タカノン
Illus: 510
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: I know I say this about all the songs I put up, but this one's great. I really like it! I only looked a few songs to put up this week (all using GUMI), and this one really stood out from the crowd. GUMI's voice really just sounds really good in this, not too high and not too low.

I'm battling through a cold right now, so I'll just leave it at that.

This week, we're going back to one of my favourite producers, BuzzG

Title: ラムダ, Ramuda, Lambda (98% sure that's right)
Producer: BuzzG
PV: ぽたこ
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: BuzzG's songs always are so good. GUMI's voice always sounds great and the backing always is at a good level. When I first heard the song, I was hoping for something slower. The piano at the beginning lulled me into expectation of something different from BuzzG. Then the band kicked in and it was more or less your typical. It's a great song though.

The PV is done beautifully too. It's kind of like a pastel-y colour, no? I'm not really good with colours, so I won't dwell on that topic.

If I translated the title wrong, drop a comment with the right one and I'll be changing it stat.

Title: セツナトリップ, Setsuna torippu, Moment Trip
Producer: Last Note
PV: こみね
Illust.: のん
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI power

Kenn's Comment: It feels like forever since I did one of these.

GUMI's tuning in this one is magnificent. She sounds so very human. The song also has a very distinctly Japanese sound to it, though not quite as pronounced as say, 千本桜, but it's there nonetheless.

The PV swings between colourful, energetic scenes with the lyrics, and more toned down scenes that are usually background-less.

All in all, it's a great, fast piece with near godly tuning with GUMI Power. The guitar and bass are great too.

Number #3 in last week's rankings, I believe.

Title: ありがとう, Arigatou, Thank You
Producer: レタスP
Genre: Pop
Vocal: GUMI, 鏡音レン

Kenn's Comment: I feel that the instrumental backing is too loud. It's most noticeable when GUMI is singing. Her voice really competes against the piano and guitar for the spotlight, which is a shame, because I'm really liking her part too. I find that overly-loud backing are often a problem (for me) with songs using Vocaloid. Maybe it's just that I notice it a lot more.

Anywho, it's a great song, and the art for the PV is really quite pretty. The soft colours used really set the tone of the music too, which is great.

Number 1 from last week was really, really good too. KEI ft. GUMI can never go wrong. I've featured KEI on this feature a lot though, so I figured I'd do something other than KEI whenever he hits #1. But in that one, GUMI's voice is clearly the star of the song, and doesn't have any competition for your ear.

Maybe it's because I'm a composer that I'm noticing this stuff xD.

This one is the #1 from last week I believe on the rankings. It certainly deserves that win too. It's quite something.

Title: SILVER BULLET, シルバーバレット
Producer: ぺぺろんP
PV: 御厨わた
Vocaloid: GUMI V3

Kenn's Comment: It really come off as the opening to an anime or game, don't you think? The vocal line reminds me a lot of the older works of fripSide, like red reduction division or hurting heart. GUMI's V3 rendition is something to really be reckoned with. She still sounds like GUMI, which can't be said of Crypton's append, where Miku's various voices slightly alter her colour and can cause her to sound quite different from her usual.

The PV, too, is quite impressive. It's not animated any different from the masses, but the art is really quite impressive.

Now if you excuse me, I have some breakfast to go eat. Yes, I know. It's freaking 4pm.

40mP does it again. This song is great!

Title: 春に一番近い街, Haru ni Ichiban Chikai Machi, Town closest to Spring
Producer: 40mP
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI (Power)

Kenn's Comment: Great song. The PV is really quite nice too. It's a live-action PV, probably of 40mP's town. It must be pretty warm over there if there are already flowers that are opened up. I don't think I've seen any buds opening up here in the 604.

Translation wise, I've seen some as 'Town Nearing Spring'. Not sure if that's right, but I'm almost certain that 一番 is a superlative phrase (English equivalent to -est suffixes), so that's the reasoning behind that translation.

A lovely song featuring a cast of 8.

Title: ゆめのかたち, Yume no Katachi, (The) Form of Dreams
Producer: ふわりP
PV: ねこむら
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: 初音ミク、鏡音リン・レン、巡音ルカ、MEIKO、KAITO、GUMI、がくぽいど

Kenn's Comment: Lovely song ain't it? I especially love the last part as things really pick up. It really reminds me of that Idolm@ster song, which I had in the Song of the Week a few months back.

I'm really hoping that there's an 歌ってみた with 8 great singers as it just might be one of the best things to bless the internet for a while.

These 8 are more or less the most popular and most used of all the programs, and you'll usually find these 8 in various configurations in most songs. Enjoy the gorgeous song! Sounds like something you'd have an idol group sing at the end of the concert or year.

This one is from a week or two ago.

Title: Bad ∞ End ∞ Night
Producer: ひとしずくP，やま△
Art: 鈴ノ助
PV: TSO
Genre: Not even sure...pop?
Vocaloid: 初音ミク，鏡音リン・レン，巡音ルカ，GUMI, ガクポ, KAITO, MEIKO

Kenn's Comment:  Using 8 of the Vocaloid in one song is impressive in it's own right, though there are some of the 8 that are only used in the choruses. For the most part, it's maybe...3-4? Miku, Rin and Ren are the ones I hear coming up most often. Not that it's a bad thing or anything, just not...what 8 could be.

Anywho, the song's melody reminds me a lot of something MachigarritaP might do (I spelt his name wrong). It gives it a bit of a creepy-feel to it. The PV is pretty amazing and the art (character art) is wonderful.

I've got a sweet spot for GUMI songs that sound like this one (there's lots of them).

Edit: Scheduled posts never work. =_=

Title:ナンカイレンアイ, Nanakai Renai, I'm not actually sure what that means
Producer:  タカノン
Art: たま
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: Yeah, so I'm not entirely sure one what the title means.

Anywho, GUMI's more or less become my Vocaloid of choice, though I'm fine with any of them so long as the song itself (the important part) is good.

The song itself is standard fare, I have to say. This week was rather slow in songs (imo). It's good, but nothing about it really stands out as super duper amazing...except that art. Hot diggity it's nice. Feel like I've seen the name たま come up before though...hm.

Just in time for Halloween?

Title: Sweet Shackles
Producer: Maya
PV: しーな
Genre: Not really sure...pop-rock...maybe?
Vocaloid: GUMI extend SWEET

Kenn's Comment: As a commenter on the video wrote: I'd let Gumi tie me up anyday. Heck to the yeah!

Anywho, this slightly creepy and cute song really shows off cute in a way that I haven't seen yet. I know that producers like Machigerita-P do this kind of stuff real well.

Also, I've been less and less active lately, spending more and more of my free time either with school or on Dark Souls, so here's a treat. More Gumi! This one's an adorable MMD one. All credits are on the video I believe. Watch in 1080p for absolutel moe-ness.

More GUMI this week!

Title: だってだってだって, Datte Datte Datte, Because Because Because
Producer: タカノン
PV: こみね
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: A lot of the Vocaloid songs as of late..not too many of them have stood out as being awesome. It's been getting kind of hard to find ones that are great. I've found, though, that when things start getting rough, GUMI usually shines through. Not sure why this is, but GUMI's always around when you need her.

This one's a cute one. The PV is great too. All of タカノン's songs (the ones I know at least) are great and quite upbeat, so it's nice to a fall back for when things get rough.

I hear Vocaloid 3 is in the works and set for release in October or something like that. I'll have a look into it before I post anything (or even if I post anything).

More GUMI, more power.

Title: Cinematronix
Producer: rascal-P
Music/Lryics: llliiillliiilll, rascal-P
Art: 八角
PV: llliiillliiilll
Genre: Rock
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: Haven't been keeping up with Vocaloid songs lately; been far too busy with school, though things should start slowing down now.

Anywho, here's a GUMI one. Don't think I've heard rascal-P songs before, but it's a good first impression. The guitar is pretty cool, but I feel that GUMI's voice should be a bit louder to balance better with the instruments. It's a bit of a pet peeve of mine, having the instruments being at the same level or louder than the vocals. Anywho, enjoy! Now to look for a manga for tomorrow...

Awesome GUMI song. And that illustration is great.

Oops. Should've posted this before going for dinner.

Title: GIFT
Producer: Dios
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: Great song using a GUMI voice I'm not entirely used to hearing. That doesn't mean it's bad, I'm just used to hearing a slightly lower voice. GUMI sounds great either way, and so does the song. The chorus is really catchy and the balance is great too. One thing I've noticed about a lot of Vocaloid songs is that the vocals are too often drowned out by the instrumentation. Dios is a rather accomplished producer, so this is just another great song under his/her belt.

An adorable GUMI song.

Title: ときめきポータブル, Tokimeki Portable
Producer: Starving Trancer
Genre: Pop
Vocaloid: GUMI

Kenn's Comment: There were more people involved in the song, but all credits are given in the video description. I've seen Starving Trancer before from EXIT TUNES, so I'm guessing they're a group.

Anywho, the song itself is cute and rather calm. I don't think it'll do Top 3 for the Weekly Rankings, but it'll probably be charted at least. It's a nice change from what I often see GUMI used in (rock-pop rock songs) though I still like GUMI's voice slightly lower; I think it sounds better. The PV is simple, but that's one of it's charm points.

Internet Co.'s newest roll out.

Title: 祭囃子, Matsuri Hayashi
Producer: buzzG
PV: TATSUYA ABE
Genre: Vocarock
Vocaloid: GUMI_extend

Kenn's Comment: 囃子は、英語で何ですか。

Awesome song. The instrumentals are done by real people (TEST, guitar, Nakamura Kei, bass, 真矢, drums). GUMI sounds great too. This one's using the new _extend version, which is basically like Crypton's APPEND. Though I've read that the APPENDS sound too different from the original voice, so there are people who don't really like it too much. Extend, however, seems to just be an improvement on the existing voice, so they've taken a liking to it. And so have I. And I agree, the APPENDs can sound vastly different from the original voice, though they're pretty cool in that light too.
